We celebrate International Women's Day with an interview with our founder.

International Women's Day in 2022 imagines a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.  We would like to share an interview with our founder Indre:

So Indre, I know a lot of people always ask you this but how did this business idea come about?

Back in 2007 one of our shower door rollers rusted and the bearings fell out so we needed a replacement ASAP. I have searched high and low throughout the UK including local plumbers’ shops, B&Q and online. I did not have much luck here but found an online seller in USA holding only couple of types of rollers and decided to give one of them a go. After couple of weeks a set of 8 tiny rollers arrived. My Husband tried to install one which did not fit. He then grinded it down but still no luck. So we were left with 7 brand new rollers. I then listed them individually for sale on eBay. They were sold in just a couple days giving me a good profit. I then ordered another 5 sets which were sold again and so I kept increasing variety and ordering more and more which led to opening ShowerPart online shop.

That’s amazing! So when did the business first start?

It all started from scratch back in 2007. I was a sole trader for few years while I was doing Bachelor’s Degree at University of Westminster in London. After my University graduation Shower Part became a limited company in 2011 and I decided to keep myself rolling with rollers rather than getting employed in tourism industry.

And when did you move to beautiful Cornwall?

As soon as I got pregnant!

We decided to move to seaside town and without much thinking we thought: if it’s a seaside – its got to be nicest in the Country. So here we are, Cornwall. The Idea to move away came into my head during the Easter holidays back in 2013 and then only a  few weeks later on the 10th of May we made the move. This was most spontaneous turn in my life.

How many Shower Parts do you actually stock now?

We stock over 600+ variants of rollers and wheels, including 300+ types. We also stock a variety of handles and knobs and other small parts such as hinges and hooks.

Do you have best sellers?

Yes, we do, we have about 50 best sellers!

What is the most popular question asked by your customers?

“Do you have the part I require?”

What has been the biggest highlight for your business so far to date?

To hire my first employee.

Thank you so much. And we’d love to learn a bit about you too. What do you like to do in your spare time to relax?

I love having long walks with my Husband, two kids and two dogs, exploring Cornwall’s different spots, bodyboarding and boogie bounce classes.

Do you have any favourite places to visit in Cornwall?

Certainly yes: Fistral or Watergate beaches are the best for long Summer days with family or friends. I love Truro for shopping, The Minack Theatre for shows, Sams on the Beach for a glass of wine and bowl of mussels.

What’s your ultimate movie and favourite song?

Movie: The Lake House.

Song: Adele’s Hello.

If you could have a dinner party with 3 people (past or present) who would they be, why and what would you eat?

    1. The Dalai Lama
    2. Julius Caesar
    3. My late Brother – just because I miss him so much.

Just because I believe they would be interesting people to talk to.
